RICHARD EPSTEIN – BASSOON

Norwalk Symphony Orchestra

Westport, Connecticut

Dr. Richard Epstein first played with the Symphony in 1966 in high school, and has been a regular member since 1977. His primary profession is as a dentist, and music is his second profession “…to feed my soul.” If these two passions did not keep him busy enough, Richard also plays the Saxophone in a jazz group in Westport, CT, hosts a weekly 3-hour radio show called “Sometimes Classical” on WPKN, 89.5 FM, and is an avid gardener. “It is dispiriting to play alone after so many years of playing regularly…and out at least two nights a week,” but Richard still believes that this quarantine has provided new opportunities, especially for younger musicians. “Play for the world! Online is here, and will only et better, so the ‘live’ in live music will be transformed in ways not yet imagined. The revolution is coming, just as it did with microphones, amplification and electronics, and you will be heard.”
